CineMorte was established in 2005 - though the seed was planted
back in the mid-70's - to spread the word about horror movies and
scary flicks. We'll even throw in Sci-Fi-, Thriller-, and
Mystery-themed movies if we see fit. And, not just the popular ones,
but also the "so-bad-they're-good" movies as well as the
ones that are terrible beyond belief. The
purpose of CineMorte is to present reviews for these movies you
may never have heard of, forgotten about, have cool covers but
thought might stink, didn't know were available, or just want a
different point of view for. We'll review movies from all
era's - 1920's to present day - if we can get our paws on them.
We are not professional reviewers nor probably even good
writers but only fans like you who need an outlet for our
fascination. So, here's our gift to you, the avid fan and
curious onlooker. Enjoy.
Deranged (1974) - Unlike its contemporary The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and predecessor Psycho -- both of which were very loosely based on the gruesome antics of notorious Wisconsin killer/graverobber Ed Gein, who killed, skinned, devoured or made furniture out of his many victims in the late '50s -- this gritty, disturbing and underrated production purports to be a semi-accurate a ... Wild Zero (2000) - Japanese music video director Tetsuro Takeuchi applies his talents to this edgy, fast-paced and dizzying film about Ace (Masashi Endô), a young man who worships the popular Guitar Wolf (played by the real-life members of a group sporting the same name). After witnessing the band about to be double-crossed by a club owner, Ace helps them seek revenge. Impressed, G ... Read more
8/15/2010 - 'Blair Witch' Director Returns for 'The Possession' I wanted to put the cap on POV news this week with Chronicle, but when it comes to a project being directed by Eduardo Sanchez, I think I can make room for one more. The guy hasn't delivered one widely successful film since The Blair Witch Project back in 1999, but that one alone makes any other project he gets his hands on instantly intriguing and that's why I'll be keeping a close eye on Possession. According to Variety, that'll be Sanchez's next venture behind the lens and it actually doesn't stray too far from the concept that brought him all the notoriety to begin with. Full Article
8/15/2010 - Movie director John Carpenter delivers verdict on remake of cult classic MOVIE legend John Carpenter has revealed his one-eyed anti-hero Snake Plissken is in line for a comeback - but Gerard Butler need not apply. The Scots heart-throb had been tipped to reprise Kurt Russell's role in a remake of director Carpenter's seminal 1981 movie Escape From New York. But, in a rare interview, Carpenter said the eye-patched tough-guy - fighting to spring the president from a Big Apple penal colony could only be American. Full Article

8/15/2010 - Skeletons in the Actor's Closet: First Movie Breaks It’s always best to to stay on the sunny side of life. At least I’ve heard as much. I wouldn’t know, because I have the crabby heart of an old man and the entire world is my lawn and everyone is constantly on it. But I am familiar with the idea that positive thinking can yield positive results. So while you’re (secretly) watching the illest pops and the freshest locks in Step-Up 3D this weekend, keep in mind that every actor has to get his start somewhere. One of those background dancers gyrating his heart out to save the rec center (I assume that is the plot -- it always is with these movies) may be the next Brando. Maybe one of them, like everyone below, will one day climb the Hollywood ranks and Step-Up 3D will be the skeleton in his closet. Full Article
8/15/2010 - Quentin Tarantino reportedly in talks with 20th Century Fox for big-budget reboot of 'The Shadow' Today, the news arrived that Quentin Tarantino is currently in secret talks with 20th Century Fox to co-write and possibly direct a reboot of The Shadow, a franchise that Fox got their hands on years ago and hasn't done anything with since (which, considering how the original-- starring Alec Baldwin-- turned out, might not be such a bad deal). Apparently, the reboot was once slated to be helmed by Sam Raimi, but for whatever reason that deal fell through. Full Article
