30 Days of Night (2007)

"They're Coming!"
In Barrow, Alaska, one night can last an eternity. One month every year, this town is plunged into darkness for thirty days due to its location on the far north of the Arctic Circle. While extended periods of darkness are something that the locals have become accustomed to, this year something sinister is about to emerge from the long and unforgiving night. As a maniacal horde of vampires assume control of the city streets and commence to freely feasting on the terrified citizens, the local sheriffs - a husband and wife team (Josh Hartnett and Melissa George) - will be forced to choose between saving themselves or helping the members of their community survive the blood-soaked siege.

CINEMORTE REVIEW:
by Ratso (5/13/2010)

Based on a horror comic mini-series, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT is a slick Hollywood vampire offering that, to me, comes up lacking. Sure, there's some great cinematography, pretty evil/creepy vampires, satisfactory levels of gore, etc., but the truth is, lotsa predictable cliches bog this baby down.

Some cool shit includes the tractor/trencher mowing down vampires, little vampire girl , and the guy who plays the role of the "lead" vampire...great job!! Also, tho unexplained, the vampires speak this foreign language, which I found sorta cool but also, kinda irritating. Film kinda just plays out, never really giving me the "edge of the seat" feeling that I want from my horror stuff. Other than decapitations and lots of gore, it's a pretty safe "date" movie. Wanna mention that I have NOT read comic series so dunno how it compares, figger the comics were MUCH better.
